The amazing Chris Finill completed his 36th consecutive London Marathon in a superb time of 2.56.05, the 35th time he has been under three hours and an astonishing time for a 57 year old. He was also featured on TV, talking to Gabby Logan with his son, Nicholas. There is an interesting write up on Chris and the London Marathon EverPresent group here.
Emily Antcliffe was also aiming at three hours but she just missed out, clocking 3.06.15, after being on target at half-way.
The young athletes were also in action competing in the Mini Marathons although many had also competed the day before in the YDL fixture (see photos below). In the U17 boys and from Harrow School, George Grassly placed an excellent third in a notably quick 15.31. In fact for all the teams there were some speedy times being posted no doubt assisted by the westerly route of the course and some helpful winds blowing along the Embankment 😉
Well done to all the athletes and also a big vote of thanks to all the parents and team managers who volunteered to make this event happen!
