London Marathon & Mini Marathon

A busy weekend for the Clubs young athletes and a few of our seniors as well as they took to the streets of London for the mini and full marathons over Saturday and Sunday. There were a couple of stand out performances amongst the juniors as Amae Van Zyl placed 12th in the U15’s girls race over 2.6Km and Katie Dalton was 16th in the U13’s! Zack Atek also had a great race finishing 32nd in the U17 mens race with Joseph Tarling 57th. Annabelle Suffield continues her return to competition after injury and was 56th in the U17 womens category with Sian Wright 75th. Luca Russo led home the U15 boys race finishing 78th. Thank you to all the athletes as Harrow fielded an almost full team.

For Sundays seniors tackling the full marathon, Chris Finill continued his marathon ‘ever-present’ streak with a solid 3 hours 7 minutes clocking but debutant Curtis Stevens was over the moon with his 2 hours 47 minutes time! For the women there were personal bests for Issy Jones with 3 hours 22 and Jennifer Keal 3 hours 31minutes. Well done to all our athletes – you can put your feet up for a couple of days at least.

March ’24 – results

Club athletes have been out and about across the country competing and recording some great results:

  • Chris Hudson ran another sub 15minute 5K at Battersea Park on Friday running home in a 14:53 which is great prep for the upcoming summer season.
  • Jonathan Collier also ran the FNUL at Battersea and ran strongly to record 14:29!
  • Katie and Beth Dalton were running the English Schools CC champs in Pontefract and finished 87th and 99th and separated again by just a handful of seconds – 12:19 to 12:23!
  • Amae Van Zyl also represented Middlesex at the ESAA CC and finished an excellent 40th in a field of almost 350 running 13:48 for the 3.5K course and second county scorer by 1 second!
  • Sofia Latham is making the very most of her time at Birmingham Uni and yesterday ran at Leicester in the Podium 5K races where she recorded a superb new PB of 17:44 for a road 5K.
  • Mark Cursons travelled to Corwen, North Wales yesterday for the UK masters CC champs finished 41st and 7th v60 with 34:38 for the 8K course.
  • Luca Russo ran a 15s PB over 1500m today @ Lee Valley with 4:48

Well done to all our athletes who continue to inspire us all with their splendid achievements 🙂

NWLL & Cross Challenge Inter Counties

The results of the final NWLL fixture held at Brent Valley park last weekend took a while so a belated congrats to Zack Atek for winning the U17’s race and Joseph Tarling a very strong 4th. In the U13 girls races another super run from twins Katie and Beth Dalton who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with the team winning the league title – well done girls!

Senior athlete Jim Cooper was away racing cross country at the Police Service champs winning his age group and placing a super 12th overall in the race.

On Saturday it was the turn of both senior and junior athletes racing the combined UK Cross Challenge and Inter Counties championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.
In the senior men’s race Neil Johnston was 21st, Terry Fawden 24th and Luke Dinsmore 65th and in the women’s race Robyn McKee finished 36th. Julio Calvino-Palomares finished 89th in the U20’s mens race and Sofia Latham had a storming run giving it her all (have a look on the YouTube coverage!) to finish 26th in 21:23 in the U20 womens race. Another fine performance came via Amae Van Zyl as she finished 46th in a field of almost 300 runners whilst the Dalton twins were busy again racing the u13s event with Katie finishing 47th and Beth coming home 74th although only 17s separated them such was the tight packing in the field of 298 – well done all of you.

PV success at UK indoors!

Owen Heard was on top form last weekend in Birmingham as he won the UK indoors title with a vault of 5.26! Harrow athletes were also strongly showing in the womens PV competition as Jade Spencer Smith was third in 4.31 and Megan Bailey 4th (4.21). Also in the womens Triple Jump there was a silver medal for Adelaide Omitowoju as she went out to 12.94.
