Southern League round 1 – Peterborough

The Club’s newly-promoted Southern Athletic League team got out of gaol in the first fixture of 2016 in Peterborough, snatching third place despite a depleted team! We finished behind defending champions Nene Valley and Radley, and just three points clear of Colchester.

Decathlete Saoirse Chinery-Edoo posted a double victory, taking the sprint hurdles in 16.1 and the pole vault with 3.60. David Sketchley took the javelin while Olaseni Ogunmilade won the 200 metres and Omar Grant anchored the sprint relay team to victory. Damaine Benjamin showed good early season form to take the 400 metres hurdles with a brisk 57.2.

Lucy Simson won the 400 metres hurdles, Denisa Mihalcea took the discus while Eilish O’Grady dominated the 2000 metres steeplechase, winning in 7.54.0.

Thanks also to the team of officials and young Nathan who is a star raker 😉

Chad  Chad McLeod in the high hurdles.
