UK champs and marathon roundup

At the UK indoor championships held in Birmingham over the weekend, Harrow athlete Divine Duruaku went home with the High Jump silver medal after clearing 2:16 behind the winning height of 2:20m.

Jack Roach also won silver in the Long Jump after reaching 7.53m and James Lelliot was 6th with 7.26m. Harrow also had two athletes in the shot competition as George Hyde finished in 6th position with 16:17m and Zac Davies was 8th with 15:29m.

In the 60m sprints Kesi Oludoyi ran 6.77s (6.82s in semis) and JJ Nwawulor posted 6.80s (6.85s in semis) and Nia Wedderburn-Goodison sprinted to 7.43s in winning her heat. Michael Fagbenie ran 48.53s over 400m before running 49.37 in the semis.

Miguel Perera won his 60mHurdles heat in 8.02s whilst David Areeety ran 8.50s. Mia McIntosh ran 8.34s in the womens 60mH heats before finishing 4th in the final with 8.36s ahead of Holly Mills in 6th with 8.48s.

In the pole vault, Joseph Lister cleared 4.60m for 8th place and Jade Spencer-Smith finished 3rd with 4.15m ahead of Megan Bailey who was 7th with 3.90m.

There were also Harrow athletes competing abroad as Jonathan Collier ran a great Half marathon in Barcelona on Sunday to finish 31st in a huge personal best of 64:37! Further South in Seville, Adam Towle ran 2hrs 44:11 in the marathon where Steve Warburton (v60) also ran extremely well for 3hrs 14!

Finally, Dave Branfoot ran the Cyprus half marathon championships finishing 8th in 75:13.
