Harrow Athletic Club’s under 20 squad secured their place in Southern Premier Division Two with a solid third place in the final fixture at Bannister on Sunday, writes Tony Bush.
Ellie Chandler continued her superb season by winning the under 17 hammer with a great throw of 49.94, just shy of her recent personal best. She also placed second in the discus while Mia Springer took the pole vault with a useful 2.60 and Marella Whitfield won the 800 metres in a fast 2.16.6.
Ellen Rose-Senior starred in the under 20 age-group with a double victory, taking the 800 metres in 2.20.2 and the steeplechase with 5.55.7. Kim Osuji took the discus with a good 35.54.
Nikita Poplawski won the under 20 400 metres hurdles, with a useful 60.0, while Joseph Lister found his excellent jump of 4.35 only good enough for second in the pole vault. Dawid Cedro fared better in the under 17 vault, winning with a good 3.75′.
Meanwhile Jade Spencer-Smith set a new Club record of 11.56 in the inter-counties event in Kingston. She also won the 800 metres while Laurance Edwards ran an excellent time of 2.18.95 for second in the 800 metres.

Harrow Athletic Club is celebrating after winning ten county titles, and 15 other medals, in the Middlesex County Championships at Lee Valley on Saturday.
Two of the Club’s top sprinters returned to action after injury and both claimed gold medals. Omar Grant grabbed the senior 200 metres title, ahead of brother Jerwayne, while national champion Kesi Oludoyitook the under 17 100 metres. Nikita Poplawski won the under 20 400 metres hurdles title while Salim Muhammed took the 100 metres bronze.
Eugenie Brown won the under 20 200 metres title and also took silver in the 100 metres. Georgie Floyd won the javelin with an impressive 36.46.
Ellie Chandler continues to impress in the hammer and and she won the under 17 title with an excellent 48.28. Sophie Dowson cleared 3.10 to take the pole vault, with Megan Bailey taking silver, while Sophie Fung won the under 15 title with 2.30m.
Jade Spencer-Smith won two under 13 silvers, in the hurdles and long jump, while Cartier Yearwood also struck silver, in the 200 metres.

Harrow Athletic Club’s Marella Whitfield continued her superb season by winning two medals in the Hertfordshire County championships at Watford on Saturday, taking the under 17 800 metres title in 2.20.63 and grabbing silver in the 400 metres.
Emily Russell was also in fine form, winning the under 15 hurdles, while Brittany-Anne Wiggan took bronze in the 100 metres. Kim Osuji won the under 20 discus title with a good 33.60m.
